Finally!

it took me 3 months, but I finally finished "Dragon Rider" that book was way too long and way to stupid for my fantasy fiction palate. but it's over and done and now I will either take it home to die on my bookshelves, or perhaps I'll donate it to charity.

How?

There was a story on the news this morning about a woman who gave birh at McDonads and she didn't even know she was pregnant.
My Question is ... How can one not know that they are pregnant?

I am not by-the-way.

Favorite Christmas Gift....

Well, my # 1 favorite gift is my Anastasia music box

But not far behind is ...

The brown faux fur throw blanket that was given to me by my husband.
It's wonderfully fuzzy and warm.

I love it, but Noranti is deathly afraid of it.

I don't know if she thinks it's going to eat her or what, but she will not go near it and she wont come near me if it's around. I don't think I'm really surprised by the fact that she is scared of it, I just find it extremely amusing. How can one little cat be so afraid of EVERYTHING?!

Song for the day

Breathe

Lyrics by Midge Ure

With every waking breath I breathe
I see what life has dealt to me
With every sadness I deny
I feel a chance inside me die
Give me a taste of something new
To touch to hold to pull me through
Send me a guiding light that shines
Across this darkened life of mine
Breathe some soul in me
Breathe your gift of love to me
Breathe life to lay 'fore me
Breathe to make me breathe
For every man who built a home
A paper promise for his own
He fights against an open flow
Of lies and failures, we all know
To those who have and who have not
How can you live with what you've got?
Give me a touch of something sure
I could be happy evermore
Breathe some soul in me
Breathe your gift of love to me
Breathe life to lay 'fore me
To see to make me breathe
Breathe your honesty
Breathe your innocence to me
Breathe your word and set me free
Breathe to make me breathe
This life prepares the strangest things
The dreams we dream of what life brings
The highest highs can turn around
To sow love's seeds on stony ground
Breathe
Breathe
Breathe some soul in me
Breathe your gift of love to me
Breathe life to lay 'fore me
To see to make me breathe
Breathe your honesty
Breathe your innocence to me
Breathe your word and set me free
Breathe to make me breathe

My Car....

6 Weeks ago when I took my car to the shop they said 2-3 weeks... when I called them 2 weeks later they said it would be another 2 weeks and AGAIN when I called them 2 weeks later "You're car wont be ready until January"

Is it just me and my female point of view but when someone gives me an estimate of when something will be done I expect that it will be done in that amount of time.

Is that really to much to ask?

How long?

There are 16 days until my birthday.

Movies

It's time to review some movies again. I've slacked off on this the past few weeks, but we have seen quite a few movies lately. And since I don't feel like working today and the high temperature today is 19 degrees I figure I'll pass the time with useless information.

The Simpson's Movie - Okay
This movie was funny, but it was the Simpson's and the TV show is funny so I really didn't expect much less. I did think that it was a little long and the story was drug out too long. it really could have just been covered in a 30 minute episode.

Cinderella Man - Okay
I can't say a lot about this movie because I really only watched the last 30 minutes of it. John really enjoyed it though so I may have to rent it again some day and watch it again.

Enchanted - Great!
This movie was awesome. The perfect girl movie. it's got a love story, handsome men and a dragon. what more could you ask for?  ...  oh and a princess. It's a purchase I'll have to make.

Live Free or Die Hard - Great
Originally this movie was rented to make up for the super girly movie I took John to (see above) but I ended up loving this movie as well. I love action movies with lost of killing and explosions. :) Yep, I'm gonna have to buy it. This fits in the same category as the Transporter movies and Crank. All good.

Meet the Robinsons - Great
I honestly wasn't expecting much from this movie since Chicken Little had sucked so badly. But I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. It even made me cry a little at the end. It was a cute movie and I'll have to buy it one of these days.

Black Sheep - Great
Hmmm... what can be said about this movie? How can you go wrong with crazy man-eating sheep? You really can't.

It's a Wonderful Life - Great
We've watched this a few times this Christmas season. It's still a wonderful movie and I think we really should add it to our collection.

Apparently I have really liked the movies we have watched lately. Haven't picked to many bad ones.

We currently have Ocean's 13 and The Majestic sitting at home to watch. Plus all the DVD's that we got for Christmas.

for my sister

Oh, Senor Don Gato was a cat,
On a high red roof Don Gato sat,
He went there to read a letter
meow, meow, meow,
Where the reading light was better
meow, meow, meow.

'Twas a love note for Don Gato!

I adore you wrote the lady cat,
Who was fluffy, white, and nice and fat,
Oh there was no sweeter kitty,

meow, meow meow,
In the country or the city

meow, meow, meow,
And she said she'd wed Don Gato.

Oh Don Gato jumped so happily,
He fell off the roof and broke his knee,
Broke his ribs and all his whiskers,

meow, meow meow,
And his little solar plexis,

meow, meow, meow,
Ay caramba cried Don Gato.

Well the doctors all came on the run,
Just to see if something could be done,
But in spite of everything they tried,
Poor senor Don Gato up and died,

T'was the ending for Don Gato

When the funeral passed the market square
Such a smell of fish was in the air,
Though his burial was slated,

meow, meow, meow
He became reanimated,

meow, meow, meow
He came back to life, Don Gato.

the day after

It's back to work again today.... I'm very tired this morning for no reason at all. I was in bed last night by 10 pm and asleep almost as soon as I closed my eyes. This morning my eyes ache though like I have been awake to long and all they want to do is close.
I'm very cold today. It's the first time since I've had my new job that I have wished that I had a blanket at my desk. My hands ache too and I'm sure that's because of the cold.
I also have the strange pain in my chest again. It's like some one has kicked me in the sternum. It hurts to move my arms and it hurts to breathe. I even have a cough back again today and I wonder if it doesn't have something to do with the changing weather that might cause the "asthma" that I may or may not have. I brought my inhaler with me just in case.
That's enough complaining out of me. Lets talk about what I got for Christmas...

We have yet to go over to mother's house for presents there. That is the plan for tonight but it really depends on how the snow is on the way home from work. It is supposed to snow this afternoon into tomorrow. I know their house is on our way home, but sometime when it's dark and snowy outside I'd rather just be at my own house then stuck somewhere else.

Mother's Christmas Wish for 2008....

My mother would like to have 3 new members of her family this coming year... the stipulation is that they must be human.

Question:
Is there a prize for the first to bring one home?

Merry Chrirtmas!

This made me laugh today

Merry Christmas!
it's time to go home from work
:)

Christmas Eve

It's Christmas Eve and I am at work. I don't remember there being a year since I got a real job when I didn't have to work Christmas Eve unless I had asked for it off in advance... but this year I didn't.

It doesn't even feel like Christmas Eve. I know that it is though, however I need something more. Maybe a little "Christmas Spirit", perhaps a good snow storm, or maybe a family party with Santa as the special guest who has to run because he has a lot of other presents to give out tonight.

I don't know that I will get any of this by the end of the day so instead I'm going to make a list of things about Christmas past and present that make me happy. Here I go:

Watching the red light on top of the mill and pretending that it was Rudolph

Grandma Mc's divinity & peanut brittle

Family parties on Christmas eve

Snow caves at the end of the driveway

Rainbow mouse

Pictures with Santa at Bowman's Market

Orange slices

Peanuts in my stocking that never got eaten by me

Orange Sticks

Clementine's

Watching the news reports to see where Santa was

Waking up early and plugging in the lights

Christmas lights in the dark

Driving up Angel Street & Down Gentile on the way to Grandma's to see all the Christmas lights

Staying up really late helping mom wrap presents

Watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Uncle Lee reciting How the Grinch stole Christmas from memory

Church only lasting an hour when the 25th is on a Sunday

The Kaysville Stake Christmas program

The little tree we had in our bed room just for me and bebo

Sister Ensign's caramel popcorn

The dress Aunt Jane made me one year and all I had to say about it was that there were no pockets. - I think it was polka dot.

Piles of presents

The year I got to be Mary in the primary program at the ward party

Cats in the Christmas Tree

Waking up really early and shaking presents

Having john wake me up at 4 or 5 am asking to open presents

Snooping

The year I had my cousin Spring's name for Christmas and I bought her a glass unicorn figure and she hugged me and thanked me for the gift I don't remember anyone else ever saying thank you for the family name presents.

Knowing all the words to Silent Night and O'Christmas Tree in German

Christmas Concerts in High School

Playing the Bells

Christmas Music in general

Do They Know it's Christmas on the record player - the long version "feed the people, stay alive"

Chipmunks Christmas record

The story of the littlest polar bear

My best friends giant and beautifully flocked Christmas tree

New Kids on the Block Funky Funky Christmas CD

Giving presents to my friends

Getting my Clifford the Big Red Dog as a gift

The little yellow kitten the oldest sister gave me once

Christmas Dances with Jordan Savage and Mark Treu

The lights on Temple Square

Christmas dresses

Laser tag

The year a box of food appeared on our doorstep

Snow on Christmas morning

Getting something you REALLY wanted

Mittens attached together by a string through your coat sleeves

Mom's fur coat

Music boxes with dancing ballerina's

Keith playing Santa at the family party

Christmas sweaters that I always stole from my dad and brothers

Sleeping on the vent with a blanket over my head

Finding the last present in the farthest corner under the tree

I bought a cover for my iPod. Isn't it so shiny.

Christmas Memories

Once upon a time the oldest sister got married on December 14th. Of course her decorations were Christmas themed so after it was all over the family ended up with A LOT of extra Christmas decorations.

The oldest getting married of course left the two younger sisters to have an entire room to ourselves. Which was great because this middle sister became my best friend over the years. Due to the over abundance of Christmas decorations we girls claimed one of the Christmas trees. It was probably only 2 ½ feet tall and we covered it in a long string of white lights as well as random little ornaments that we collected over the years it was a beautiful little tree.

Every year J. and I would buy presents for each other to be put under our little tree and they were the first presents to be opened on Christmas morning. Some times we would even open them on Christmas Eve.

I don't ever remember what was given, or what was received, but it was fun having our special tree for just the two of us.

I still have this tree. It has been renegade to the back of the closet and I'm sad to say we don't use it anymore, but each time I open the closet I see it and I remember the Christmas' with my sister in our little bedroom.

December 21, 2007

I didn't die on my way into work this morning.

The snow outside is terrible. This is a picture of I-215 from my office building. Where is it you ask? Good question. It's out there somewhere.

This picture really doesn't do the storm justice - it's basically whiteout conditions outside and nothing has been plowed.

Driving to work this morning was taking your life into your own hands. Thankfully we left before the rush and by the time we were pulling into SLC the radio said traffic was stopped between Layton and Bountiful which is most of our commute so I think we did pretty good.

Thursday, December 20, 2007

I work in a professional office building with adults...

Wednesday, December 19, 2007

Ack!!

I scratched my new iPod... :(
I accidentally put it in the same pocket as my phone.

Bowling anyone?

Some times it seems that all my memories are seen through a very frosty window and periodically I rub a spot clean to get a glimpse of what was, only to have the spot frost over again before I know it.

What is the cause for this memory loss? I'm sure there are lots of different explanations but the more fun version of my memory loss is this:

I don't really recall how old I was but I do remember that it was Halloween. The oldest of my sisters decided to turn the girls bedroom into a haunted house. She put the two younger sisters in the living room and told us to stay there and not to go into the bed room until she was ready.

Well we all have learned that if you tell Liz she can't do something that is exactly what she'll do. So on one of the oldest sister's trips from the bedroom I snuck in and hid under the blankets on her bed. I laid very flat and very still and imagined that no one could see me under the blankets...

And apparently it worked rather well because the oldest sister came back into the room and THUNK! dropped a bowling ball right on my poor head. I don't remember much of what happened after that point, but once in a while I remember the sickening sound of the ball hitting my head. She was going to use it as her "crystal ball" and tell our fortunes with it, but the trauma of it all ruined the fun and she never did get to finish her haunted house. I even remember the bowling ball that was used, I believe it was the red and black swirl one...

If you were to ask my mother she would tell you that this never happened, but if you ask me or the oldest of sisters we both remember it. And I'm sure she remembers it better then I do, after all, dropping a bowling ball on your favorite baby sister's head has to be a very memorable experience.

Apparently my head is a target for hard objects ... bowling balls, cars, the ground, cupboards, rocks, elbows .. . but those are all stories for another time.

Right now I'm listening to MC Hammer and a moment ago I was listening to Queen....

Having 1,000 song to listen to makes me happy.

The Coat

I have a new coat. Well it's not really a new coat, I claimed it from my mother last winter, but it's taken this long for me to wear it, or for people to notice. The outside of this coat is brown suede and the inside is brown and furry.
I like furry things for some reason.
The other night as John and I were standing in line for the MoTab Christmas Concert and the lady in front of me was wearing a big black fury coat, and I said to john "I just want to rub my face in that lady's coat" and he told me that I should not. He didn't want us to get arrested for harassment. He also thought that was a bizarre thing for me to be saying.
And then on Friday I made him buy me a furry throw blanket for my Christmas present... why this sudden fascination with fur? I'm not sure.
I am thinking that it all stems back to my mother's fur coat. No, it wasn't real fur, it wasn't even a good faux fur, but it was big, black and furry. I remember that she had that coat for years, I actually wouldn't be surprised if it was still in her closet, I loved that coat.
I recall playing with it. When my sister and I could wear it around pretending to be bears.  But most of all I remember laying wrapped up in it on my moms bed, or on top of the vent.
I have always wanted a fur coat of my own, but this furry lined coat is as close as I have come so far.

My new toy. Merry Christmas to me. Now I just need one for John.

Why!? Why?! Why!?

Why is Hilda the first person I have to deal with on a Monday morning!? She is a horrid woman without whom I could have lived my entire existence without ever knowing and been content and happy. Arrrgh!
This morning I'm an idiot because I can't read her mind, and cannot decipher her code that apparently only she knows the key to.
Then she is again harping on an issue that we had a "meeting" about last month where it was clearly stated that applications must go through BOTH committees and I only have the power to approve for Oklahoma and someone else has to approve for Coventry National.
Not only is approving files for Coventry National not my job, it's against the law for me to do it because I wasn't a part of the approval committee therefore it would amount to falsifying records.

All views expresed are my own and not that of Coventry Health Care.

It took all day but she finally got her laundry.

We got a new TV. It's huge, but it was free.

the sound is a little temperamental, and it doesn't always turn on on the first try, but that's probably why they bought a new one. oh well, we'll enjoy it until it dies probably. At least it doesn't have the high pitched squeal that our old hand-me-down TV had picked up.

Thursday, December 13, 2007

This camera has almost hit several people.

John watching an accident waiting to happen.

Liz's feet are hot & sweaty.

The conference center has 21,000 seats.

Me & John at the concert.

This is what i'm doing tonight. I'm very excited. I love the king singers!

Reminder...

My birthday is exactly one month from today.

Oddly enough ...

I found this picture on the internet this morning. It is a picture of a tombstone located in the Disneyland Tokyo Haunted Mansion Cemetary. The tombstone says "Mister West Laid to Rest (I can't read the middle section) Farewell."

Ironic isn't it?

New Pillow (Firm)
New Coat for my husband (size Large)
The Dark Crystal on DVD

The Wizard of OZ on DVD
John would like the Red Lion and Black Lion DVD sets of Voltron

My Car
New Dress size 18

Cheese Cake Factory Cheese Cake (the frozen one from Sam's Club is fine)
Peace on Earth
Happiness
and...
A Baby
Keep in mind, Santa, that this is the short list of what I could think of off the top of my head today. I'd also like a bathtub that does not leak hot water, a new window in the bathroom that doesn't show daylight around the trim, and a furnace that doesn't sound like it's going to explode every time it turns on, but that may be too much to ask for.
These items may be delivered to me at any of the following locations where I will be on Christmas Day : My parent's house, The in-law's house, Norm's house, or of course ... my house.
Thank you and have a nice flight,

Liz

Poetry

Fire and Ice

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

Robert Frost

You'll be happy when you read this....

Good news passed on from a cousin today:

They chose a writer and have an expected release date of Fall 2009!  Just thought you might want to know.  I just finished book three and am on to book four.  What a nice Christmas present, knowing that you'll get closure.

Mister West Boycott Update

The following is an email we received from our personal friend who is a personal friend of Mister West:

"Hi. Please let your people know that I talked to Mister. West today and he's doing well. He has good things ahead (which I can't disclose at the moment) but, he expressed his gratitude to everyone who has sent emails to the people at The End. He and I are going to lunch next week and I'll have more info then."

According to our source Mister West received a letter in the mail a few weeks ago stating that his contract was renewed and all was well, but a week and a half ago he was called into the bosses office on a Friday after the show and was told they had decided NOT to renew his contract and then had him escorted out of the building. They gave him no reasons and just told him he was done and threw him out.

Contract negotiations... no. that sounds like people at the station didn't want him anymore so they just got rid of him. In my book, that chalks up to being fired.

My nephews

das ist verboten

Oaky - Here I'm going to sound like such a horrible wife, but honestly, sometimes this is just too funny not to share.

John has night terrors.

In and of itself that is not funny. It is something I learned about shortly after we were married. but sometimes the reasons for his terrors is the funny part.

I have woken him up from dreams that include, but are not limited to the following:

Clams
Zombies
Clones
A fuzzy puppy with a cobra for a leg
Scorpions
Snakes

and other varying sources of terror for my husband....

well, last night we watched a Disney movie. Ratatouille.
It's a very good movie, and very funny.
However, it is full of RATS.

I think I was awake ALL NIGHT with him tossing and turning and screaming about being bitten by rats... there were snakes involved to, but I don't know where they came from.  He is so hard to wake up in this state. I'm sometimes afraid that I'm going to get smacked for trying. But I wake him up and all is fine for like an hour then it's the same thing all over again.

So Ratatouille is now a forbidden movie at my house... or as I like to say Das ist verboten!

I did really enjoy the move though.

More Things You May Not Know About Liz

101.  I love singing along to Neil Diamond

almost 2 whole days without a post....

Apparently I ran out of things to say this weekend. . . but I'm back now.

it snowed this past weekend. It took me and John 2 hours to get home from Salt Lake at 10 pm last Friday, and even though a large part of my mind was on getting home alive I was enjoying watching the snow fall around me and how pretty it is when it falls into the headlights, and it reminded me of a story -

Many of you may remember my friend Carrie Higley, in fact you may actually be Carrie Higley. But if you aren't her and you don't remember her then here is a quick description...

Carrie magically appeared when the school district changed boundaries when I was in fourth grade, bringing all those rich snotty from east Kaysville and some poor cowpoke in from west Kaysville. like that one kid that always smelled of manure ... Aaron something... I don't remember... well over the years the rich kids from the east side just got snottier, but the kids from the west side became some of my really good friends. Carrie was among the west side kids. Though she wasn't really a "cowpoke" she lived among the farms. Her parents owned a shop in downtown Kaysville Called "Con Higley Construction" and "The Academy of Fine Art." That building doesn't exist anymore by-the-way. She usually rode the bus home from school, but there were at least 3 days a week when we would walk home together during junior high and high school.

In fourth grade Carrie was a skinny little girl with mousey blonde hair and a mouth that was too big for her face, she did grow into her mouth though, it's not quite as big as it used to be, and she has the most perfect nose. It is a cute little ski slope nose all covered in freckles that I still admire to this day. She used to get really self conscious when I'd tell her how cute her nose was and she would blush and try to hide it, but a nose is not really something that you can cover up. :-0 To me Carrie was my "Anne Shirley" a gangly youth that grew up to be smart and pretty, and we all know that we were constantly on the lookout for our "Gilbert Blithe" to come along.

Carrie, do you realize that it has been 20 years! Doesn't that make you feel old!?

Anyway, when we were finally old enough to drive we would periodically be going somewhere (most likely a choir concert) together, and on one random dark night while driving together in the snow Carrie tried to say that she liked driving in the snow at night because it made the snow flakes look like stars... well what actually came out of her mouth was that she liked driving in the snow at night because it made the snow flakes look like "Snars." What a lovely combination of snow and stars Snars. So now every time I am driving through a snowstorm in the dark I giggle to myself because the snars really are so pretty.

Do you remember your old brown beater car. That car was awesome. especially when it would die in front of my house and I'd get to drive it to school the next day. :)

So that's my story - I love driving in the dark and looking at the snars.

Mister West Boycott

101.9 The End fired Mister West. As a personal friend of a Personal friend of Mister the story about a contract dispute is a load of crap. Citadel Broadcasting FIRED him.

Please, if you are a listener to 101.9 I am asking you to email the management and demand Mister West back. (sure in all reality it probably wont get him his job back, but the station needs to know what the listeners think.)
I'm not listening to 101.9 anymore. Mister West was my reason to listen in the mornings.
I cc some of you on an email to the station. Please if you have a heart email them too and then stop listening.

The station sucks anyway.

Email Complaints to:
parker@1019theend.com
chunga@1019theend.com
chelsea@1019theend.com
cort@1019theend.com
eric.hauenstein@citcomm.com

Below is a copy of the email I sent.

As a listener to 101.9 the End for at least the past 10 years I really was listening to Mister West. I cannot believe that the station fired him! Contract dispute my butt. He was the funny part of the morning show and I enjoyed listening to him more then any other DJ on that radio station. Mister West was the reliable morning DJ that was always there when the show starts at 6:00 am when the self absorbed Chunga waltz's in at 6:15 or later EVERY Day.
101.9 has gone down hill and I honestly don't enjoy listening to it anymore because of the low quality of DJ's that are provided. Parker's show sucks and I don't listen to the radio in the afternoons anymore, and now I have no reason to listen in the mornings.
I'm no longer a listener of 101.9. I will also be letting everyone I know to stop listening as well.
So long 101.9. This is the End.

Mister West Boycott Update 12/12/2007:

Mister West Boycott Update 12/29/2007

Our "source" has failed us.
He has yet to go out to lunch with his friend Mister. So there is no new News.
I guess even unemployed people are busy during the holidays :)

I have not listened to 101.9 since I first heard the news. I now bounce between X96 in the mornings, 107.9 The Mix and My 99.5 - and I am ever thankful for the iPod I got for Christmas.

The Final Word - 1/14/08

To all those who have called me pathetic, sworn at me, said horrible things to me on MY blog -

Who truly is the one who is more pathetic? Me who just happens to have personal connections with a radio personality who I really enjoyed listening to, or the person who didn't like him anyway and just posts on this "random, pathetic" blog because they have nothing better to do with their time then to tell others how stupid they are.
This is just ONE blog entry in a blog of hundreds of entries. It just happens that this blog entry is a source of information for those who want to know. So NO, I'm not going to delete it, I'll leave it where it is because it pleases me. Perhaps I enjoy feeding the frenzy, perhaps I like the fact that MY blog gets hundreds of hits a day with people looking for information about a DJ "that no one really liked anyway." Perhaps my month of December had nothing more interesting going on so Mister was something to keep me and others entertained.
To the uneducated swine and computer nerds - Why not turn your computer off once in a while and go outside and learn some social skills, for most that is a skill that is severely lacking. Get a dictionary or a thesaurus and learn new and creative ways to state your opinion, in most civilized societies replacing punctuation with "fuck" is not acceptable.

So go ahead, continue posting to this blog entry, I'll read and delete whom ever I chose and I'll continue to be a fan of Mister West. This may be the last anyone hears from me on this post. I'm tired of being called names by those who don't even know me.

The End.

I know I said I wasn't going to give any further updates on this post, but as of last night and a PERSONAL phone call I received from Mister Brian West himself...

He wanted to thank me for my support and for all of you who have shown him your luv. He is still pretty angry over the whole thing (as is to be expected) and he has just recently looked at this blog.

He will be either sending me an email this weekend Thanking all of you himself, OR he may be posting a comment himself.

So hold your breath and wait for the man himself to speak to us from beyond. . .

I never received an email from Mister like he had promised. Unless it ended up in my SPAM folder and got deleted - if so, I'm sorry and Mister you can email me again.

If anyone is wondering and doesn't want to read through the comments, Mister West is in fact an employee of The Deseret News now.

2/22/08 - this is part of an article that was published in the A&E section of the Deseret News Friday February 22, 2002. Thanks the the anonymous commenter who pointed it out to my attention :)

Mister West," the former KENZ ("The End," FM-101.9) morning personality, now works for the Deseret Morning News as an assistant city editor.

"It was the last thing in the world I expected," Mister said of his dismissal after more than eight years at KENZ.

The show had been consistently in the top five of the 25 morning shows in the market.

"They negotiated with Chunga and he signed a new deal," Mister said. "I was fully intending to receive a contract offer when my general manager sat me down and told me that morning's show had been my last. They offered no severance; just had someone escort me from the building. I was shocked. He refused to give me any reason for the decision other than to say it was nothing I had or hadn't done. It wasn't until days later that I learned from others that Chunga had insisted on the change as part of his contract talks."

Mister said he has no idea why this happened, as the two had worked together well for more than 15 years and he considered him a friend.

"Chunga is easily the funniest person I've ever met. My job was to make him and the show better, and I know I helped do that."

Citadel Broadcasting, the owner of KENZ, had no comment on Mister's dismissal, because it is company policy not to discuss personnel issues. Because of that corporate policy, neither Chunga nor the station manager would comment.

Mister said he'd like to at least return to radio part-time one day, though Citadel is holding him to a six-month "no-compete" clause.

Mister's radio career spans 20 years, with work also at KCGL, KJQN, KFMY and KXRK. Before working at KENZ, he was employed as a reporter and an editor at the Deseret Morning News.

2/25/08 -

I was informed that my blog was talked about on What's Happening Hot Stuff this morning. Apparently I have been labled as a "Fat chick from Mister's Ward" .... FYI - I'm NOT in Mister's ward. Thank you very much.

The Forgotten Carols

Okay - I think this is the one Christmas thing I've done this year that I have actually enjoyed. I love the Forgotten Carols.

The Forgotten Carols, for those of you who don't know, is the story of a nurse named Constance who needs to learn the true meaning of Christmas and to "let HIM in." (Hmm... sound familiar?)

A quick description that I found on the Internet says: "Constance, a rigid yet competent nurse too practical to be bothered by Christmas, is assigned to care for an aged gentleman with alleged psychiatric tendencies over the holiday season. But this unlikely patient, John, is nothing like the senile "crazy" she expected. Filled with warmth and spunky kindness, John eventually breaks through Constance’s iron-clad exterior as he walks her through the untold carols of the more "forgotten" characters in the Christmas story and guides the young nurse to the Christmas carol waiting to be sung inside her own heart. And with emotion and humor, McLean, a master storyteller, illustrates what the world has forgotten about Christmas."

The old man "Uncle John" tells her the stories of people he had met and known over 2000 years ago, and their views of the Saviors birth. Well, if you listen closely to the story turns out that "Uncle John" is actually John the Beloved telling the story of Christ's birth.

It has changed a bit since I last saw it. I think that was 6 years ago after I had just returned from my mission. I had bought 3 tickets so I could take John and my friend Susan, but for one reason or another John could not come with me so I ended up taking another friend named Valerie and Susan and we made it a girls night out. The time before that was with my oldest brother and his wife a few years earlier. I think there may have been one other time then that, but I can't remember. But last night was the first time I had gotten John to come with me. For all the years we have been married I have been trying to convince him that we should go, but up until now we just hadn't been.

First of all, I forgot my Kleenex which was a terrible mistake, but luckily I was wearing long sleeves. And second of all, I don't recall myself being such a boob and crying so much over silly Christmas songs. And yet, perhaps it was the exact Christmas spirit that I have been missing and I just hadn't been able to find it yet.

Being there last night, brought back so many memories of things I have done in my life that is somehow related a to Michael McLean song, and added another to my list of songs that have touched me.

I remembered being at a fireside once back when I was 12. I think it was actually the "first" fireside I had ever been to. It was at the chapel on 50 West in Kaysville and I went with my sister. Who was the main speaker at this fireside? Michael McLean. I honestly have no remembrance of what he talked about, but I remember he sang "Together Forever" and of course every time he sings this song he makes everyone hold hands and sing the end of the song with him "we can be together forever someday," and I was there holding the hand of one of my favorite sisters singing this song and I knew that we would be together forever someday. Ever since that night, that song makes me cry - even more so on those days, weeks, months, and years when I feel like I'm not living up to the standards I know I should be.

The next song of Michael McLean's that I love is "Celebrating the Light." No, it's not a Forgotten Carol, nor is it a part of his every performance, but this song reminds me of my mission and how I'd listen to it all the time and it was just a sing out-loud feel good song that I love.

I love the Song "From God's Arms to My Arms to Yours" this song is about adoption. I've gotten more attached to this song the past few years as I have known many people who have been fortunate enough to adopt, and some times it seems that I may have to go that route one day too. (I hope not.)

"Which Part is Mine" is another song that has spoken to me in my times of need. Some times I need to be reminded that I don't have to do everything and I should step back and ask "which part is mine" so I can know what to leave in the hands of Heavenly father, and what I do need to worry about.

There are so many songs by this amazing man that have become a part of who I am and has helped me to celebrate the light that I have in me. But last night, one song hit me out of the blue and has now been added to my songs that have touched me list:

Mary Let Me Hold Her Baby

"She had a way with children; she molded them like clay.
She found the goodness in them all, and she nurtured them each day.
Though she never had been married or had children of her own,
She could make the toughest child be good.
And so she would not be misunderstood,
She told her story every chance she could:

'Mary let me hold her baby,
Her newborn son.
Though I'd never been a mother,
I felt like one.

Mary let me hold her baby
So she could rest.
And ever since the night I held him,
My life's been blessed.

Those like me who can't have children
Still can be mothers.
Something in his eyes convinced me
I could serve so many others.

Mary let me hold her baby,
So soft and warm.
Mary let me hold her baby,
And I was reborn.'"

Anyway that's enough of that for this evening. Needless to say I really enjoyed being at The Forgotten Carols Last night, and I'm very glad that we went. I think that I may have found a little bit of my Christmas Spirit. John really enjoyed it too, I bet I can convince him to go again next year. :)
