car curiosity

Many have asked about the Focus in the past few weeks since I haven't posted an update.

Well....

John talked to the shop yesterday. when he talked to them 2 weeks ago they were "just starting on it and it should be ready by January 5th." But yesterday when he called it's still not even close to being done. For starters when they got the car pulled apart SURPRISE! they found more damage then originally estimated. So they had to order more parts for the car. Then we have the unlucky opportunity of having 3 holidays since the accident. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years... so that cut into the fix it time.

As of now we're looking at the car not being done until the 16th of January. However, John has given a wide estimate of perhaps having it back by the end of the month, but then that falls into ANOTHER holiday of MLK, Jr. Day on the 21st.

So that is $540 dollars of car payments, $230 of insurance payments, and $188 to register a car that I can't even drive.
The upside?? well we haven't put any miles on our new tires....

:) I see you're doing well with your easing up on the bitterness resolution. This whole process reminds me of "The Six Million Dollar Man" where they are saying, "We can rebuild him. We have the technology." :) Maybe Kal-El will be able to finally leap tall buildings in a single bound after this.

No, I was being serious. You at least are looking at the brighter side of things. Really. :)

I'm surprised that the insurance is going for this. You would think that at some point the rental car fee's would start costing more than the car. I was thinking about that last night, when I had to rent a car it was over $50 a day and it didn't get any cheaper with how long you rented it. As of now, the insurance has paid about $3k. Doesn't that fall into the amount when they decide if it's totaled???

well . . . I'm not paying for it so I don't really care. The the insurance company is paying 21.75 per day for the car. we have had it since November 21, 2007. So we have now had the rental car for 47 days.
lets see: 47 days x $22.00 per day = $1,034.00 as of 1/07/08.
