Inspired by Bono

U2.

This is a statement of joy. Just saying the words brings a smile to this otherwise usually depressed face. I have for the past 2 weeks been reflecting on the Joy of Bono and how much I enjoy the music which he has brought into my life. I was directed to a website earlier today that is currently taking a poll as to which Bono you like more.

http://davekristen.blogspot.com/2008/01/bonology.html

The choices are Mullet Bono, Pirate Bono, "The Fly" Bono, Muscle Bono, or Modern Bono...

I must admit... I chose "The Fly" Bono as my first choice, but the more I look at these pictures, the more I adore "Pirate Bono" How can one go wrong with one who can get away with such sex appeal as a Bono with out a shirt in those leather pants (mmm... leather...) It's growing on me. :)

I chose "The Fly" as my favorite Bono because it was here during the Zooropa era when U2 became a part of my life and has been ever since.

Throughout all the years and all the Bono stages he has been a leader to billons who have heard his music and it has struck a cord somewhere within us all that makes us want to be better people and fight for the things we believe in. And for being Irish he has somehow even taught me to be more patriotic and proud to be an American. Strange that he should be such a guide to so many.

He has a love for America that is rare for many foreigners and he fights for our rights and for the survival of the children of Africa. I became a member of the ONE Foundation a few years ago, and count myself among those who are a little more informed on some global topics.

I have been to the last three U2 Concerts that have come to Salt Lake City.
1997 - Rice Stadium - PopMart
2001 - Delta Center - Elevation
2005 - Delta Center - Vertigo

So my personal choice of U2 Song of the day is:

Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own Lyrics

Tough, you think you've got the stuff
You're telling me and anyone
You're hard enough
You don't have to put up a fight
You don't have to always be right
Let me take some of the punches
For you tonight
Listen to me now
I need to let you know
You don't have to go it alone
And it's you when I look in the mirror
And it's you when I don't pick up the phone
Sometimes you can't make it on your own
We fight all the time
You and I...that's alright
We're the same soul
I don't need...I don't need to hear you say
That if we weren't so alike
You'd like me a whole lot more
Listen to me now
I need to let you know
You don't have to go it alone
And it's you when I look in the mirror
And it's you when I don't pick up the phone
Sometimes you can't make it on your own
I know that we don't talk
I'm sick of it all
Can - you - hear - me - when - I -Sing, you're the reason I sing
You're the reason why the opera is in me...Where are we now?
I've got to let you know
A house still doesn't make a home
Don't leave me here alone...
And it's you when I look in the mirror
And it's you that makes it hard to let go
Sometimes you can't make it on your own
Sometimes you can't make it
The best you can do is to fake it
Sometimes you can't make it on your own

My final words to this post: I'd just like to restate that U2 Rocks, and You can never go wrong while following your heart.... and Bono is in my heart :)

"You can't surrender to melancholy; that's too easy. Joy is a subject I go on and on about. It's one of the only emotions you can't contrive. It's impossible. Despair and anger are easier to convey. Joy is right next to happiness, which is not so interesting, and sentimentality. Great rock 'n' roll, the raw stuff, is pure joy. It's that sense of being alive, of being grateful for your pulse." -BONO

I went with "Muscle" Bono, I mean how can you go wrong with that shirt, the same one they had him wearing when he was on the Simpsons.
