just four for today

Ella Enchanted – Another take on the Cinderella story with a twist. Ella was given a gift as a child to always do what she it told. Her evil step sisters take advantage of this and make her do horrible things and get in lots of trouble. When she sets out on a quest to find her fairy godmother she ends up falling in love with the prince and together they have mishaps and adventures and have a happy ending. This movie is cute. A little corny at times, but I love it none-the-less.

Meet Joe Black – Death Comes for Rich Guy. Death decides to stay and visit “Life” for a while. Death falls in love with Rich Guy’s Daughter. We are lectured about the true meaning of love and why we should appreciate life. I truly do love this movie. It’s quite long, but I absolutely think it’s worth the time.

The Secret of the Roan Inish – This is a fantastic tale of a little girl named Fiona who is sent to live with her grandparents in a small fishing village in Donegal, Ireland. She soon learns the local/family legend that an ancestor of hers married a Selkie - a seal who can turn into a human. Years earlier, her baby brother washed out to sea in a cradle shaped like a boat; her grandfather believes the boy is being raised by the seals. Between her lost little brother and her grandparent’s losing their house Fiona must solve mysteries, help her grandfather and learn the truth about the Roan Inish. This is a cute movie that has me looking for “Selkie’s” every time I’m near the sea. It’s an older movie, 1994, but it’s a good one.

Braveheart – “Every man dies, not every man really lives.” This movie I love. William Wallace’s father and brother are killed by the English and he is taken away by Uncle Argyle. Years later he returns to Scotland and falls in love with Murron. Due to a new mandate by the English King, an English Lord gets the bride on her wedding night 'Prima Nocta' in order to breed the Scots out of Scotland. William doesn’t like this so he and Murron marry in secret.... Well the English don’t like that and kill her in the town square leading William into an all out war between Scotland and England entwining the Princess of England into a love story and tragedy of William Wallace.
