Scientist discovers secret behind navel lint
An Austrian scientist claims to have solved the mystery of belly button fluff.
Dr. Georg Steinhauser studied more than 500 pieces of lint from his own belly button in making his discovery.
Steinhauser found that the lint is not only compromised of cotton from clothing, but it also contains dust, sweat, fat and flecks of dead skin.
He says belly hair helps to hook the fluff that ends up in the belly button.
Shaving your belly, wearing older garments, and body piercings he says can all help to eliminate the navel fuzz.
