The Saga of the Fridge

empty old fridge
Once upon a time there was a boy and a girl who lived in a house. This house was over 50 years old and had some issues, but this boy and girl made do and tried to make things better as the time passed.
In this old house there lived an angry old fridge that liked to let everyone know it was angry by periodically making a loud Kerrrrrr-cHUnK sound. It did this several times a day, and also multiple times in the night while this boy and girl were sleeping. For the most part they ignored the angry fridge until one day (that happened to be a Sunday) Old fridge just decided it didn’t like them anymore, and instead of it’s usual Kerrrrrr-cHUnK it made a high pitched humming-rattling noise that drove the boy and girl (and the cats) crazy. It would rattle-humm for two hours then stop for twenty minutes then rattle-humm for two hours and then stop for twenty minutes…. And the pattern continued all day and all night and all the next day. But by the end of that first day, angry old fridge decided that it no longer wanted to keep the cold things cold, or the frozen things frozen so it let the frozen orange juice go squishy, and the freezer jam to melt.

Now, this didn’t sit well with the boy and girl who lived in the house. They could put up with the angry old furnace that periodically Ka-Booms! As it starts to heat, and they were even putting up with the lack of hot water pressure from the bathtub faucet… but they would not put up with the angry old fridge that was refusing to do it’s job. So after a full nights sleep the boy and girl got up and went to work the next day. The girl spent all day researching refrigerators on-line, looking at prices, and brands, and sizes, and dealers… Eventually it came down to this. They needed a fridge. It needed to run. It needed to be quiet. It needed to be cheap. It needed to not have an ice maker. It needed to fit into the pre-existing spot of the old fridge… but most of all, they needed it NOW.

empty living room
So girl found a store that happened to be on her way home from work so she stopped there, walked in said, I need a fridge and I need it delivered tomorrow.
empty kitchen w/old fridge

And the sales man said “I can do that.” So he showed her a fridge and she said “I’ll take it.” It wasn’t fancy, but it would do the job. So now, girl had to go home alone, (because boy was working ALL day,) and clean out the old fridge. Armed with coolers and ice girl emptied the angry old fridge listening all the while to it’s rattle-humm that was digging into her brain. Once everything was out she pulled the plug on that old monster and gave it a good swift kick.
Then she realized that she needed to do more work. There was only one way in and out of this old house and it was thoroughly blocked by the gathered possessions of this boy and this girl… so again, she got to work. Placing all the random chairs that gather at the table into various other rooms of the house she started moving things around in the kitchen. She yanked out that old fridge and knocked out some wooden trim that had previously adorned the cupboards and walls surrounding the fridge. She pulled out the computer desk and pushed, and scooted it across the floor with the subwoofer and printer in tow, all while trying not to knock the items and knick-knacks off the top.
She hauled the plastic drawers full of computer crap into the junk room and took a deep breath… but it still wasn’t over. When she turned around she saw how hideously dirty the floor was so she swept and swept and dusted the cob webs off the walls, and then for good measure she pulled out the steam mop and cleaned the entire floor as best she could. And yet she still wasn’t done. Next she moved to the hallway and removed at least three years worth of Christmas cards and pictures of family and friends that had been taped there. She took down her pictures and ripped out the taped down phone cord that belonged to the phone that no longer existed.
new fridge

She pulled down the picture frame and made a neat little pile and put it all on the previously moved computer desk… Then it was on to the living room. The path between the door and the hallway was strewn with obstacles. First she put away all the shoes that liked to gather together near the door and she told them to all stay put because she didn’t want to see them in front of the door for at least another twenty-four hours. The shoes all agreed and settled in to their now/old spots for the time being. Back in the living room the girl looked at the collection of CD cases and decided that they had to go too.
She pulled out her handy screwdriver and disconnected the brackets from the wall and pushed/pulled/rocked the CD case away from the wall into the middle of the room. Then she moved the lamp and the other case that is much lighter and not attached to the wall. That was it. The pathway was cleaned and there was nothing left to do but wait for the delivery man…. So the girl went to bed, and the boy finally came home from working. It was late at night.
The next morning boy and girl got out of bed and got ready for the day… the fridge wasn’t supposed to come until the afternoon, but then the phone rang and the man on the other end said “I’m bringing your fridge now!” and the boy and girl rejoiced.
new full fridge
It was a tight squeeze, but delivery-man got the old one out and the new one in pretty darn quick, and then boy and girl had to wait for it to cool before they could bust open the coolers and refill the new fridge. The new fridge was so quite and so clean, it made the boy and girl happy. It only took a few hours for it to get to temperature and again boy and girl rejoiced. Once the old food was in the new fridge girl decided she didn’t like the shelf placement, but she’ll have to fix that later there was to much else to do. Next it was into the living room… the floor was dirty so before anything was moved back girl had to vacuum. Then back to the kitchen where boy and girl used some cooperation and pushed the computer desk back into place and made the cords all nice and pretty and made sure the speakers worked. Then the plastic drawers came out of the junk room and resumed their place next to the desk.

all back together again

Then back to the living room where together they manipulated the heavy CD case back into place and screwed the brackets back into the wall…before realizing that the lamp cord needed to go behind the heavy CD case. So they unscrewed the brackets and put the cord in place and screwed the CD case back to the wall again.
Then the lighter CD case went back into place. Boy hung the famed proclamation back onto the hallway wall, but alas, the pictures did not go back up. Finally, boy and girl put all the chairs back in their places and sat down for a deep breath. What a day… and it was only 11 am. Nap time.
The end.

Gordon B. Hinckley 1910 - 2008

President Hinckley passed away last nigh January 27, 2008. I was watching Exreame Home Makeover when "Breaking News" came on to announce his death. I was about to be upset about missing my show, but instead I found myself crying for the loss of the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, our Prophet.
President Hinkley became the propht in 1995 when Howard W. Hunter passed away. I was a sophomore in High School. I remember hearing the news in my Seminary Class, my teacher at the time was Brother Slaughter. I remember that I was so glad President Hinckley was the new Prophet, he had been running the church for a while anyway with the last few prophets being old and not in the best of health.
I once had the opportunity of see President Hinckley as he passed me in a hallway at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. I was standing at the ticket desk to get tickets to Legacy when a hush came over the building and you knew something was coming even if you couldn't see it. Moments later President Hinckley, his wife and an escort of security came around the corner. Many in that group I was standing with got to shake his hand, but being in the back I did not. However, I could "feel" his presence and I knew he was a prophet of God. I will miss President Hinckley, but the work goes on and the church is still true.

“This work is true. You know that, as do I. It is God's work. You know that also. It is the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. It is the way to happiness, the plan for peace and righteousness.”

“God our Eternal Father lives. His Son, our Redeemer, the resurrected Savior of the world, lives. They appeared to the boy Joseph Smith to part the curtains in opening a great work of restoration, ushering in the dispensation of the fullness of times. The Book of Mormon is true. It speaks as a voice from the dust in testimony of the divinity of the Lord. The priesthood with its keys, its authority, and all of its blessings is upon the earth.”

“And we are partakers of these precious gifts. And so, as we might say to an old friend, good-bye. May the blessings of God rest upon this sacred and wonderful hall. And may we, as those who have come here frequently to partake of the Spirit felt here, live worthy of the title Latter-day Saints is my humble prayer in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, amen.”

Oddly enough ...

I found this picture on the internet this morning. It is a picture of a tombstone located in the Disneyland Tokyo Haunted Mansion Cemetary. The tombstone says "Mister West Laid to Rest (I can't read the middle section) Farewell."

Ironic isn't it?

Mister West Boycott Update

The following is an email we received from our personal friend who is a personal friend of Mister West:

"Hi. Please let your people know that I talked to Mister. West today and he's doing well. He has good things ahead (which I can't disclose at the moment) but, he expressed his gratitude to everyone who has sent emails to the people at The End. He and I are going to lunch next week and I'll have more info then."

According to our source Mister West received a letter in the mail a few weeks ago stating that his contract was renewed and all was well, but a week and a half ago he was called into the bosses office on a Friday after the show and was told they had decided NOT to renew his contract and then had him escorted out of the building. They gave him no reasons and just told him he was done and threw him out.

Contract negotiations... no. that sounds like people at the station didn't want him anymore so they just got rid of him. In my book, that chalks up to being fired.

Mister West Boycott

101.9 The End fired Mister West. As a personal friend of a Personal friend of Mister the story about a contract dispute is a load of crap. Citadel Broadcasting FIRED him.

Please, if you are a listener to 101.9 I am asking you to email the management and demand Mister West back. (sure in all reality it probably wont get him his job back, but the station needs to know what the listeners think.)
I'm not listening to 101.9 anymore. Mister West was my reason to listen in the mornings.
I cc some of you on an email to the station. Please if you have a heart email them too and then stop listening.

The station sucks anyway.

Email Complaints to:
parker@1019theend.com
chunga@1019theend.com
chelsea@1019theend.com
cort@1019theend.com
eric.hauenstein@citcomm.com

Below is a copy of the email I sent.

As a listener to 101.9 the End for at least the past 10 years I really was listening to Mister West. I cannot believe that the station fired him! Contract dispute my butt. He was the funny part of the morning show and I enjoyed listening to him more then any other DJ on that radio station. Mister West was the reliable morning DJ that was always there when the show starts at 6:00 am when the self absorbed Chunga waltz's in at 6:15 or later EVERY Day.
101.9 has gone down hill and I honestly don't enjoy listening to it anymore because of the low quality of DJ's that are provided. Parker's show sucks and I don't listen to the radio in the afternoons anymore, and now I have no reason to listen in the mornings.
I'm no longer a listener of 101.9. I will also be letting everyone I know to stop listening as well.
So long 101.9. This is the End.

Mister West Boycott Update 12/29/2007

Our "source" has failed us.
He has yet to go out to lunch with his friend Mister. So there is no new News.
I guess even unemployed people are busy during the holidays :)

I have not listened to 101.9 since I first heard the news. I now bounce between X96 in the mornings, 107.9 The Mix and My 99.5 - and I am ever thankful for the iPod I got for Christmas.

The Final Word - 1/14/08

To all those who have called me pathetic, sworn at me, said horrible things to me on MY blog -

Who truly is the one who is more pathetic? Me who just happens to have personal connections with a radio personality who I really enjoyed listening to, or the person who didn't like him anyway and just posts on this "random, pathetic" blog because they have nothing better to do with their time then to tell others how stupid they are.
This is just ONE blog entry in a blog of hundreds of entries. It just happens that this blog entry is a source of information for those who want to know. So NO, I'm not going to delete it, I'll leave it where it is because it pleases me. Perhaps I enjoy feeding the frenzy, perhaps I like the fact that MY blog gets hundreds of hits a day with people looking for information about a DJ "that no one really liked anyway." Perhaps my month of December had nothing more interesting going on so Mister was something to keep me and others entertained.
To the uneducated swine and computer nerds - Why not turn your computer off once in a while and go outside and learn some social skills, for most that is a skill that is severely lacking. Get a dictionary or a thesaurus and learn new and creative ways to state your opinion, in most civilized societies replacing punctuation with "fuck" is not acceptable.

So go ahead, continue posting to this blog entry, I'll read and delete whom ever I chose and I'll continue to be a fan of Mister West. This may be the last anyone hears from me on this post. I'm tired of being called names by those who don't even know me.

The End.

I know I said I wasn't going to give any further updates on this post, but as of last night and a PERSONAL phone call I received from Mister Brian West himself...

He wanted to thank me for my support and for all of you who have shown him your luv. He is still pretty angry over the whole thing (as is to be expected) and he has just recently looked at this blog.

He will be either sending me an email this weekend Thanking all of you himself, OR he may be posting a comment himself.

So hold your breath and wait for the man himself to speak to us from beyond. . .

I never received an email from Mister like he had promised. Unless it ended up in my SPAM folder and got deleted - if so, I'm sorry and Mister you can email me again.

If anyone is wondering and doesn't want to read through the comments, Mister West is in fact an employee of The Deseret News now.

2/22/08 - this is part of an article that was published in the A&E section of the Deseret News Friday February 22, 2002. Thanks the the anonymous commenter who pointed it out to my attention :)

Mister West," the former KENZ ("The End," FM-101.9) morning personality, now works for the Deseret Morning News as an assistant city editor.

"It was the last thing in the world I expected," Mister said of his dismissal after more than eight years at KENZ.

The show had been consistently in the top five of the 25 morning shows in the market.

"They negotiated with Chunga and he signed a new deal," Mister said. "I was fully intending to receive a contract offer when my general manager sat me down and told me that morning's show had been my last. They offered no severance; just had someone escort me from the building. I was shocked. He refused to give me any reason for the decision other than to say it was nothing I had or hadn't done. It wasn't until days later that I learned from others that Chunga had insisted on the change as part of his contract talks."

Mister said he has no idea why this happened, as the two had worked together well for more than 15 years and he considered him a friend.

"Chunga is easily the funniest person I've ever met. My job was to make him and the show better, and I know I helped do that."

Citadel Broadcasting, the owner of KENZ, had no comment on Mister's dismissal, because it is company policy not to discuss personnel issues. Because of that corporate policy, neither Chunga nor the station manager would comment.

Mister said he'd like to at least return to radio part-time one day, though Citadel is holding him to a six-month "no-compete" clause.

Mister's radio career spans 20 years, with work also at KCGL, KJQN, KFMY and KXRK. Before working at KENZ, he was employed as a reporter and an editor at the Deseret Morning News.

2/25/08 -

I was informed that my blog was talked about on What's Happening Hot Stuff this morning. Apparently I have been labled as a "Fat chick from Mister's Ward" .... FYI - I'm NOT in Mister's ward. Thank you very much.

FYI - Wheel of Time Update

When will Book 12 be published? What do we know about it?

Robert Jordan left a partial manuscript for A Memory of Light and audiotapes and notes for the rest of the book. We believe that his wife and editor, Harriet, and his publisher, Tom Doherty, have every intention of seeing the book completed and published but there are no more details available at this time.

information obtained from: Dragonmount.com

So far the rumor is a 2009 release date.

My poor left knee

I think there is an invisible bulls eye on my hurt knee.

It seems that everything I do has somehow caused something to hit my knee.
To start with there is all the accidental bumping and touching by my husband and the horrible weight of pants and the blankets on my bed.

Then yesterday it was the truck and several impacts at work with my chair and filing cabinets.
Today I went to Subway for lunch and some idiot parked to close to me so I had to squeeze back into my little car so while I was trying not to hit the car next to me with the door of my rental and squeezing in at the same time the door popped back and smacked my knee. WHACK! And again it is very hard to drive with tears welling up in your eyes.

I don't think I have ever hurt my knee this badly or had such continued pain….. Not even when I fell down Buffalo Peak at youth conference one year and bruised the cartilage in my knee and my parents drove me to the emergency room because it hurt so bad. This is much worse.

It seems that the pain spreads when I hit it last night it was the side of my knee, and today it's like shin splints down my leg. Not to mention the constant burning/throbbing pain that is my knee since the car accident.

Ow ow ow ow ow…..

I’m a little miffed

Last night I was searching through old files on my computer it’s been a while, and I’m not to sure what I do or do not have since my previous computer “Lenny” died and our friend tried to save what he could off our old hard drive. So it was fun and interesting for a while... lots of old letters and journal entries that are really random and lots of new/old revelations of what I would let people get away with and what I would share with others. I was a lot more open before my mission on what I was thinking and what was going on. Apparently once I even let Toby read my poetry and stories and it sounded like I was okay with it. (it is not often I let the big gray binder out of my hands) **shrug** Does she even remember that? Funny what a person can forget in 8 years. :)
Anyway as I was reading through a file entitled “Memoirs” I was pleased to read most of my poetry from 1996-1999 it was enlightening and insightful and a little dark and lonely.
However, about midway through my memoirs there is a story entitled “Sojourner” that is incomplete.... somewhere along the way the last half of my story was replaced by “////////////////////adljl;sg .........//./////////////””????>:”:”:{?>?> ??/////////////// _ _ _ _ _-----///////////FGH ;;;;; /////////” let me tell you that made me quite angry and sad to wonder if I still have that story written on paper somewhere and if so, where. I know that they are just words, and that no one will probably ever read them but me, but it’s now like a missing piece of my soul that I don’t know if I can retrieve.

Work Woes

So I am the Plan Lead for CHC of Oklahoma. I specifically work with a woman who we’ll call “Hilda”.
Hilda is truly coming off as a horrible person all the way around. On the phone she sounds all sweet and friendly, but in her emails and other correspondence she sounds so bitter and disgruntled and I don’t know if it’s just the email that makes her sound that way, or if she really is just that bad.
Lately she has taken to emailing my manager instead of me like my manager has the time to baby-sit me and my apparent failure to keep track of my own files. Or my lack of credentialing knowledge. It’s not like I have worked in this field for the last 5 years or that the job I came from was a million times more detailed and more difficult then this job is.
Nice that she just goes over my head and bothers the management like I am and incompetent fool who can’t count to 20 with my shoes on. ARRGH! She makes me so angry.
It’s been so bad that the Manager of Operations here at the CVC got fed up with Hilda’s over my head emails that she emailed the Oklahoma Manager stating:
“I have observed that there really seems to be a lot of conflict involved with Hilda. She has certainly NOT been the most consistent or accurate person we have dealt with for OK. Her constant attacks on Liz seem unwarranted. Truthfully, Hilda needs to get a better understanding of her role before attacking Liz. Liz might be new, but she knows her job as well as Hilda knows hers.”
I’m not a horrible person. I just can’t stand working with this woman.
Do I just invoke anger in people? Is my aura causing others to react angrily with me? Am I provoking all the evil that comes my way??

Like I had said to someone yesterday: I think that Heavenly Father is trying to teach me patience and love for my fellow man, but it's really hard when I hate everyone.

Here it is

This is my horrible hair cut. Yes, I know you can't really see it in this picture provided by my cell phone, but it's terribly short so you might get the main idea. Oy! It doesn't help that my hair is so flat that no matter how much hair spray I put in it it looks like i did nothing 5 minutes after I'm done. Sigh. I wish I had curly hair.

Friday, September 21, 2007

When I say an inch....

I usually don't care about my hair… but today I have a terrible hair cut. I don’t think I’ve ever had a hair cut that made me want to cry until now.
The girl who cut my hair yesterday kept messing up one side vs. the other and she just kept cutting shorter and shorter and shorter.
So now I'm a fat girl with a hair cut that instead of complementing my round face, it highlights it and almost screams look at how fat my face is.

Woe is Me ....

Robert Jordan DIED on Sunday September 16, 2007.

12 YEARS!! That’s how long I have spent reading the Wheel of Time book series, books Zero (the prequel) to 11, plus the companion volume The World of the Wheel of Time and the comic book series New Spring that was short lived and only half finished.... 12 years *Sob Sob*

So I was introduced to this book series back in 1996 by a missionary friend (Elder McGee) He was adamant that I read these books because they were the greatest. At that time I believe there were only 6 or 7 of them. It took a while but I was finally convinced and I picked up Book One: The Eye of the World and I was hooked. Books 1-5 were really good, but Book Six started to get a little if-y on whether or not I wanted to keep reading. The writing just seemed to go down hill from there. It was like there was a lot of description and not enough action or plot and it took 4 books to actually move the plot along. It was getting very frustrating. When Book Ten was released it was so so and again I questioned my desire to read any further. Finally when Book Eleven was released the plot moved and I found that I still cared about the characters that had become so hum drum in the past few books and the plot was restored and moved and things were accomplished.... and now this. *Sigh*

It is quite disappointing to have spent so much time on something and now there seems to be no end to it. I suppose that someone whether it be his wife or personal assistant will finish the last book, but that has yet to be seen. I guess it’s time to start reading some new books.

Sad News.... sad sad sad

Novelist Jordan dead at 58

Associated Press
September 17, 2007 at 2:44 PM EDT

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Author Robert Jordan, whose Wheel of Time series of fantasy novels sold millions of copies, has died of a rare blood disease, his aide said Monday. He was 58.
Jordan, whose real name was James Oliver Rigney Jr., died Sunday at the Medical University of South Carolina of complications from primary amyloidosis with cardiomyopathy, his personal assistant, Maria Simons, said. The disease attacks the body's major organs; in Jordan's case, it caused the walls of his heart to thicken.
He wrote a trilogy of historical novels set in Charleston under the pen name Reagan O'Neal in the early 1980s. Then he turned his attention to fantasy and the first volume in his Wheel of Time epic, “The Eye of the World,” was published in 1990 under the name Robert Jordan.
Jordan's books tells of Rand al'Thor, who is destined to become the champion who will battle ultimate evil in a mythical land.
Book 11, Knife of Dreams, came out in 2005; there was also a prequel, New Spring: The Novel, in 2004. The other titles in the series include The Great Hunt, Lord of Chaos and The Path of Daggers. Jordan was working on a 12th volume at the time of his death, Simons said.
He is survived by his wife, Harriet McDougal Rigney.
