This weekend was pretty entertaining. The highlight of the weekend really must be the Roller Derby that we went to on Saturday night with our friends Angie and John (he won free tickets). They're always taking us to some random out of the blue sporting event.
Roller Derby is one of those sports that you hear about once in a while or see in a bad 80's movie, but doesn't really exist ... Well, apparently it does. There is a thriving Roller Derby Culture right here in Salt Lake City. The League is call Salt City Derby Girls and it consists of 5 separate teams.
The rules of roller derby seem pretty straightforward. Each team has a jammer; and if you’re not a jammer then you’re a blocker or a pivot. The object of the game is to get your jammer passed the other teams blockers, while stopping their jammer from passing your team of blockers.
We had a lot of fun going out with Angie and John on this new adventure and we were also able to introduce them to one of our favorite places to eat in down town The Desert Edge: Pub and Brewery. We were introduced to this little spot at Trolley Square several years ago by some close friends and it quickly became one of our favorites.
Hmmm lets see what else...
We got to baby-sit little Natalie on Friday. She is totally adorable and I was super excited to be able to play with her. I haven't seen her for a few months due to illnesses and death and what-not so it was fun to play with my favorite niece named Natalie. And what's more... we get her again this coming Friday while her parents bounce back to Lagoon. Yay! However, John's dad threatened to take him fishing so he didn't have to baby-sit and leave me home alone with baby, but I'm okay with that too.
I've heard rumors that my mini-me is coming to town next month. I'm super excited for my Erin to come even though it'll be sad that I have to work most of the time she's here. I wish I had time off to stay home and play with her, but mother volunteered her to me for the Saturday that their at the temple to take care of my Kitty.
other news... John might be up for a new job at the end of the year. Everyone keep your fingers crossed that the old guy finally retires this year.
Movies we have seen lately:
Terminator: Salvation
Star Trek
X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Race to Witch Mountain
Monsters vs. Aliens
Pink Panther 2
Caprica (Battlestar Galactica Prequel)
Holes
Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
FanBoys (Loved It!)
.... I'm sure there are more, I just can't remember anymore.
and tonight we are going to see Transformers 2 in IMAX
