Life is like a computer. I'll be working along just fine in windows getting things done and progressing but then BAM! out of nowhere comes the blue screen of death and surprise surprise when you reboot everything comes up in DOS mode and since no one really knows how to use it anymore I'm just stuck in a black screen ... ugh!

Well as in your analogy, life can be repaired just like a computer:
Just type format c: at the command prompt and that will fix everything.
