Seven things... Strange and little known facts about me:

  1. I prefer my drinks at room temperature – ice makes my teeth hurt. If I’m at a restaurant I MUST have a straw because I can’t drink out of their cups with ice. At the drive thru I order my drink with no ice. Besides, that takes up all the room in your cup and you don’t get as much drink as you should. Every time a member of my family comes to my house and gets a drink they always ask me for ice but I never make any because I don’t use it except for making jello once in a while.
  2. I miss the round “flower garden” that used to be on the south lawn at my parents house. This was a ring of purple and blue Iris’ and the middle often grew little yellow buttercups and those little purple flowers that look like bunches of grapes I don’t know what they’re called but I just planted some in my front yard.) I called this flower garden my “Fairy Ring” and would often sit in the middle of it to play with my orange Elephunky and the Yellow Lion from Voltron. I have recently learned that it used to be a tree.
  3. My three favorite pass-times are Reading, Sleeping, and soaking in the tub. Sometimes I like to combine all 3, but the husband doesn’t like me to fall asleep in the tub. :)
  4. As a little girl I was madly in love with Marty Sanders. There is not much more I can say about this, he was 10 years older then me, and I was just his baby sisters silly friend.
  5. I am terrified at the idea of being a parent. I’m sure this isn’t a revelation to those who are parents because I’m sure that everyone feels this way, but I think I’m a very selfish person and I find it hard to imagine having a child that will take up my nap time, my reading time, my alone time, and my space. I’m afraid of putting a child in the back seat of a car that has a pattern of being rear ended once a year. I hate the idea that I will HAVE to be a working mother and all the time I can’t spend with my babies. I hate the idea of having someone else take care of my kids. I can’t afford daycare and I don’t think my mom should have to watch it when she’s already 68 and dad is 72. The only stay at home moms I’d love and trust enough with my baby are my oldest sister, but she lives in Washington, and my husbands baby sister, but she has cancer and probably wouldn’t want to watch my kids anyway. Too many if, ands, no ways and probablys to comfort my fears.
  6. I love driving in the snow. I’m scared to death of driving in the rain but I’ll take driving in a snow storm any day.
  7. I have an irrational fear of mirrors in the dark. I remember as an elementary school student someone telling me the story of Bloody Mary and how if you stand in front of a mirror in the dark and say her name 3 times she’ll appear... well I that whole idea scares me to death. The rational side of me KNOWS that it’s not true, but the terrified part of me doesn’t want to find out. To this very day I WILL NOT use the bathroom in the dark, and I avert my eyes from other mirrors in dark rooms.

Hmmm....

For the past week I have had a strange stomachache/crampy/hungry pain in my middle... I wonder what it could be? Is it serious? Should I go to a doctor?

strange discoveries

In the last few days I have noticed that eating chocolate makes me stuffy.
I can be feeling perfectly fine, but I have some chocolate and not even 5 minutes later my nose is stuffed up and I have massive sinus drainage. . . I hope I'm not allergic to chocolate.

what is it about pink?

My sister is having a baby... no, not that one, the other one, you know the one who has 5 boys already. But the topper to this news is that she is having a baby GIRL!

I am so excited - and just to make sure that in case one of my 7 nephews read this, it doesn't mean I love you any less, but if your parents had let me I probably would have bought you pink clothes too. :)

There is just something about baby girls. Is it the pink clothes? Is it the frills and the lacy butt tights? Is it the dresses and princesses and just the cuteness of a little girl that has me smitten with them? I don't know, but I can't wait for my 3rd niece.

Songs I have not heard in a while

I have been reminded of a Rick Springfield song today. I haven't heard this song in a long time.

My Father's Chair - Rick Springfield

My Father's Chair still standing there
All alone since the long night
Now it's three years on and I still feel
He'll come home, we'll be alright

So where's this healing time brings
I was told the pain would ease
But it still hurts like the first night

That night my brother, my mother and I
Were looking up at a distant star
And wishing we could reach that far

And back in the house
And alone for the first time
We told each other we cared
We avoided My Father's Chair

I watch my family, we hold on
We are strong and we'll be alright
The clock continues counting down, all the while
And every child will share the long night

But do the spirits meet again
Why am I still so filled with doubt
Is my soul everlasting

And the far distant future
When I knew you'd be gone
Came too fast and stays too long
Why do they leave the weak of spirit
And take the strong

When the world turns sour
And I get sick from the smell
And I can't find no comfort there
I climb into My Father's Chair

You are Marianne Dashwood of Sense & Sensibility! You are impulsive, romantic, impatient, and perhaps a bit too brutally honest. You enjoy romantic poetry and novels, and play the pianoforte beautifully. To boot, your singing voice is captivating. You feel deeply, and love passionately.

Our weekend of entertainment:

Thursday:

U23D - This was awesome. I was half afraid that it was going to be a documentary type movie about U2 similar to Rattle & Hum, but was pleasantly surprised that it was in fact just a concert in 3D. It was fantastic. I have loved seeing U2 live several times over the past 10 years, but seeing U2 in IMAX in 3D was a treat. I loved it.

Friday (our 6th anniversary):

Sweeny Todd - This movie was fantastic. All Tim Burton but with lots of singing. I had never really heard of Sweeny Todd before and when there was talk of a new Johnny Depp movie I was all over that even if I didn't know what it was about. Turns out it's a well known musical about a crazy barber who was out for revenge and kills lots of people and the lady downstairs turns the dead folks into meat pies. I loved it. My poor husband on the other hand has a hard time with straight razors and blood so he sat in his seat turning pale and being nauseous most of the movie.

Saturday:

Rurouni Kenshin - again. we still have 5 disks to go :)

Sunday:

Resident Evil: Extinction - This movie I really enjoyed. I don't know why, but I love a good action packed Zombie movie even if I know how it will end. All the Resident Evil movies have been very entertaining to me. I love the video games. How can one go wrong with a genetically enhanced lady who is programmed to kill?

... and now it's Monday again. We currently have waiting at home to watch WAR - with Jet Li and "Handsome Rob" I'm expecting it to packed full of violence and lots of explosions.

Gordon B. Hinckley 1910 - 2008

President Hinckley passed away last nigh January 27, 2008. I was watching Exreame Home Makeover when "Breaking News" came on to announce his death. I was about to be upset about missing my show, but instead I found myself crying for the loss of the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, our Prophet.
President Hinkley became the propht in 1995 when Howard W. Hunter passed away. I was a sophomore in High School. I remember hearing the news in my Seminary Class, my teacher at the time was Brother Slaughter. I remember that I was so glad President Hinckley was the new Prophet, he had been running the church for a while anyway with the last few prophets being old and not in the best of health.
I once had the opportunity of see President Hinckley as he passed me in a hallway at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. I was standing at the ticket desk to get tickets to Legacy when a hush came over the building and you knew something was coming even if you couldn't see it. Moments later President Hinckley, his wife and an escort of security came around the corner. Many in that group I was standing with got to shake his hand, but being in the back I did not. However, I could "feel" his presence and I knew he was a prophet of God. I will miss President Hinckley, but the work goes on and the church is still true.

“This work is true. You know that, as do I. It is God's work. You know that also. It is the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. It is the way to happiness, the plan for peace and righteousness.”

“God our Eternal Father lives. His Son, our Redeemer, the resurrected Savior of the world, lives. They appeared to the boy Joseph Smith to part the curtains in opening a great work of restoration, ushering in the dispensation of the fullness of times. The Book of Mormon is true. It speaks as a voice from the dust in testimony of the divinity of the Lord. The priesthood with its keys, its authority, and all of its blessings is upon the earth.”

“And we are partakers of these precious gifts. And so, as we might say to an old friend, good-bye. May the blessings of God rest upon this sacred and wonderful hall. And may we, as those who have come here frequently to partake of the Spirit felt here, live worthy of the title Latter-day Saints is my humble prayer in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, amen.”

(“Good-bye to This Wonderful Tabernacle,” Ensign, Nov. 1999, 91. )

Rurouni Kenshin: Wandering Samurai

What have we been watching lately?

Rurouni Kenshin is based around a wandering samurai named Kenshin Himura. In the past, Kenshin had gained infamy as a feared swordsman Battousai the Manslayer, who fought without mercy and slew many. Since then, however, he has forsaken his violent ways and has come to revere life, so much so that he will not kill another. He uses a reverse blade Katana so that he will not kill anyone, but is still able to use his sword to defend others as repentance for his past wrongs.

This show has been great. We're on to the 5 disk of 13 or14 disks. We watch it every night before bed and for some strange reason I'm either dreaming that I am a Samurai or my dreams are just very violent... hmmm

Like I said we have really enjoyed watching this show. It's quite cheesey at times and I think that as a master samurai the Battousai should be less of a fru fru and more threatening and forceful, but it is what it is and that's okay. I think the fight scenes in this show are masterful and I just wish that there was more of them and that they were longer. I'd like to see this samurai kick some butt however everytime he gets close to turning into the Manslayer you want him to be he is stopped by the ever present and annoying Anime female character who I almost don't like. Is it wrong of me to want to see him go postal on the whole cast of the show and use his katana to kill everyone? yeah, probably.

I would recomend watching this show to anyone who is looking for some "good anime" to watch. I've been looking for a long time and this I like.

That statement is completely obvious

We boil at different degrees.

LOBSTER BUCKET - The Aquabats

There are times
When you find
Lobsters in a bucket
Can't climb out
Why won't they climb away?
Because other lobsters
Pull them down
Cherry pits and paper clips
And people talking smack
Giant squid will come right up
And pull your train right off the track.
Mammoth broom swoops right down
And sweeps you in a whole
Friends help each other
Any way they can
When you're up at bat
They'll be your biggest fan
If you're in a pit
they'll pull you out of it
It ain't wrong to write a song
For all your friends to sing along.
People too me and you
Can also be like lobsters in bucket
It's all just one big mess
Please don't be a lobster
Friends are best
Making lunch for the baseball bunch
While playing violin
Feeding bands to giant clams
Then the fun begin
Cantaloupes and cowboy ropes
Hone those whittleing skills
Friends help each other
Any way they can
When you're up at bat
They'll be your biggest fan
If you're in a pit
They'll pull you out of it
It ain't wrong to write a song
For all your friends to sing along
Friends help each other
Any way they can
When you're up at bat
They'll be your biggest fan
If you're in a pit
They'll pull you out of it
It ain't wrong to write a song
For all your friends to sing along

the quote for the day

Up to a point, a man’s life is shaped by environment, heredity, and movements and changes in the world about him; but there comes a time when it lies within his grasp to shape the clay of his life into the sort of thing he wishes it to be. Everyone has it within his power to say, this I am today, this I shall be tomorrow.”

Louis L’Mour

Inhale Pink, Exhale Blue

It's really not the coughing that bother's me, it's the gasping for air in-between coughs that bothers me.

I also hate being woken up in the middle of the night gasping and coughing and feeling like I'm suffocating... I don't know if that's something I'll ever get used to.

Heath Ledger found dead in NYC apartment
Oscar-nominated actor reportedly discovered in Mary-Kate Olsen's home
BREAKING NEWS
MSNBC News Services
updated 3:33 p.m. MT, Tues., Jan. 22, 2008

NEW YORK - Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday in a Manhattan apartment in a possible drug-related death, police said. He was 28.

According to the New York Times, Ledger was found naked and unconscious with pills strewn all around him in an apartment owned by actress Mary-Kate Olsen. Police sources told the Times that the death appeared to be a suicide.

NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said Ledger had an appointment for a massage at the apartment. The housekeeper, who went to let Ledger know the masseuse was there, found him unconscious at approximately 3:30 p.m. ET, according to the New York Times. After receiving no response from the actor after shaking him, they called authorities.

"We are investigating the possibility of an overdose," Browne said. "There were pills within the vicinity of the bed."

The Australian-born actor was nominated for an Oscar for "Brokeback Mountain," where he met actress Michelle Williams, in 2005. Ledger and Williams had lived in Brooklyn with their 2-year-old daughter, Matilda, until they split up last year.

Ledger was to appear as the Joker this year in "The Dark Knight," a sequel to 2005's "Batman Begins." He's had starring roles in "A Knight's Tale" and "The Patriot," and played the suicidal son of Billy Bob Thornton in "Monster's Ball."

Ledger grew up in Perth, and began doing amateur theater at age 10. At 16, he moved to Sydney to pursue an acting career, quickly landing TV movie roles and guest spots on Australian television.

After several independent films and a starring role in the short-lived Fox TV series "Roar," Ledger moved to Los Angeles and costarred in "10 Things I Hate About You," a teen comedy reworking of "The Taming of the Shrew."

Offers for other teen flicks came his way, but Ledger turned them down, preferring to remain idle than sign on for projects he didn't like.

"It wasn't a hard decision for me," Ledger told the Associated Press in 2001. "It was hard for everyone else around me to understand. Agents were like, 'You're crazy,' my parents were like, 'Come on, you have to eat."'

His latest role was in "I'm Not There," in which he played one of the many incarnations of Bob Dylan — as did Cate Blanchett, whose performance in that film earned an Oscar nomination Tuesday for best supporting actress.

Church is Church is Church

I got released from my calling on Sunday. I guess not showing up for 4 months puts a damper on being the Relief Society Chorister. John was released from his calling last week, on my birthday, but his release was due to reorganizing the Sunday School Presidency.

Zen, who gets it?

There was an old woman who kept the pilgrim’s inn under Mount Fuji. One day she went to hear a long talk by the master Hakuin, which ended with the question: “When you are looking for the Buddha of infinite light in your own body, how would you recognize it?”
The woman, thinking this wasn’t so hard, went back home and meditated day and night. One day, as she was washing a pot, she had a breakthrough. She rushed to see Hakuin.
“I’ve met him, the Buddha, shining with a great light. It’s wonderful!” and she danced for joy.
“Really,” said Hakuin. “What about a pit of shit. Does it shine with a great light?”
The old woman ran up and slapped him. “You still don’t get it, do you?”
    Hakuin roared with laughter.

aren't I cute

Look - that's my car! It's back end rattles we have to take back to the shop on monday.

I hate my car.

Well, we finally got the car back. I hate it. The passenger side door is messed up. Doors, and parts shake. When I am sitting at a stop light the muffler shakes and squeaks like crazy. I knew this would happen. I call the auto mech. he said bring it in. I just want a different car. I not sure what to do here. This is new territory for me. I'm not sure I want want to fight any more either. I know that's what "they" want. I have just had to fight every stupid little thing. Even things you couldn't imagine having to fight over I have had too. I just have to get ready all over again to yell and scream. I sure you can all post and tell me what for. I know this is life, but I think this accident has been far beyond way most people usually put up with.

nicknames

I have many nicknames throughout my life, I shall at some point post a list of most of them that I have been keeping at home, but for today the discussion is "Scarlet" and why is it that a person who I shall henceforth call "Nip" calls me that.

scar·let

n.
1. A strong to vivid red or reddish orange.
2. Scarlet-colored clothing or cloth.
adj.
1. Of a strong to vivid red or reddish orange.
2. Flagrantly immoral or unchaste: scarlet thoughts.
And according to all the baby name websites the name means "Red".
So why does she call me this? I don't know. I do not have red hair. I am not flagrantly immoral or unchaste. I do not wear a scarlet letter, and I am not a southern belle. I do look good in shades of red though (if I do say so myself). I did have a red haired friend once, but she is dead to me now.
The only reason why I can think that she calls me this is because of the 18 months of time she spent living in Georgia and it just must be a Georgia thing. - shrug -
Now don't get me wrong or anything, I don't mind the name, and I'm not complaining about the name. She's been calling me this off and on for about 8.5 years so far so it's not anything new. I have just been pondering lately why it is that I am called Scarlet.

Song for the day:

Chemical Bomb Lyrics
 - The Aquabats

I was at the supermarket
Watching people cut in line
I started thinking about human nature
What would you do
if there was no more food?

My mind began to wander
About greed and hunger
And just how many other countries
Are getting ready for another war

But the sun was shining
And everything seemed fine
So count me in
I'll see you on the other side

Chemical bomb
Chemical bomb
Eyes melt, Skin explodes
Everybody's dead
It won't be long
It won't be long
People gonna run around
Losing their heads
A river of blood
Who's gonna live?
The earth is tired of human kind
And I think this world
Is gonna wash up in Hell

La la la la la
La la la la la
La lala la la la la

Then I had another vision
In the crowded grocery store
I saw the Pale Rider on his horse
Decapitating people in the parking lot
And all the shoppers were beasts
What could I do to hide?
Back in this world of humankind
I think we've already lost our minds

But the sun was shining
And everything seemed fine
So count me in
I'll see you on the other side

Chemical bomb
Chemical bomb
Eyes melt, Skin explodes
Everybody's dead
It won't be long
It won't be long
People gonna run around
Losing their heads
A river of blood
Who's gonna live?
The earth is tired of human kind
And I think this world
Is gonna wash up in Hell

La la la la la
La la la la la
La lala la la la la
maybe.... maybe... maybe...

Cars Suck

I was asked the following questions today and realized that I have failed to fill people in so here you go:

"Did you finally get your car back?  Is the insurance going to reimburse you for the rental plus fees?"

No, I don't have my car back. John talked to the shop on friday and they said the car was done, but they had to do the final once over and they'd call us when we could pick it up. . . hasn't happened yet.

Yes, the insurance company is reimbursing us for all the money that was stripped from our poor broke hands. This whole thing is jacked up if you ask me. I'm so sick of State Farm & Enterprise! I hope that I never get in an accident again and have to deal with all this crud. I'm tired of it. Next time I just want them to total it out and let me have a new car that way all of this crap could have been settled 54 days sooner.

I Love a Rainy Night - Eddie Rabbitt

Well I love a rainy night
I love a rainy night
I love to hear the thunder
Watch the lightning
When it lights up the sky
You know it makes me feel good

Well I love a rainy night
It's such a beautiful sight
I love to feel the rain
On my face
To taste the rain on my lips
In the moonlight shadow

CHORUS:
Wish I was washed
All my cares away
I'd wake up to a sunny day
'Cause I love a rainy night
Yes I love a rainy night
Well I love a rainy night
I love a rainy night

Well I love a rainy night
I love a rainy night
I love to hear the thunder
Watch the lightning
When it lights up the sky
You know it makes me feel good

Well I love a rainy night
It's such a beautiful sight
I love to feel the rain
On my face
To taste the rain on my lips
In the moonlight shadow

Puts a song
In this heart of mine
Puts a smile on my face every time

'Cause I love a rainy night
Yes I love a rainy night
Ooh I love a rainy night
Yeah I love a rainy night

you my assurance that these forecasts and predictions are all based on solid, scientific, documented evidence, so you would have to be some kind of moron not to realize that every single one of them is absolutely true.

At The Office

The girl who sits behind me at work listens to her music too loudly. It's just loud enough that I can almost hear the words, but not loud enough to make any sense. It drives me crazy! I have asked her to turn it down several times in the past 3 months, but I think she thinks I'm just being rude. I'm not, I try so hard to sound nice and friendly about it, but she never does anything to fix it. All I can do is just put my ear phones in and listen to my iPod, but sometimes, I just want quiet and no music, but I never get that since she started. Why can't people moderate their listening volume while at work because there are other's to consider when making your music selection. errgh!

ARRRGH!!

What is worse then finding that the rental car company has charge you $50.08 for a rental car State Farm is supposed to be paying for?

How about another $400.00 charge plus another $100.00 worth of over draft fees two days later AFTER we had already contacted the insurance company for the first charge!?!

I'm Mad! John's Mad! Bonnie in the State Farm Claims Department is MAD!

This is going to screw us over royally.

Sure, I get paid today, but that will only cover all the charges and overdrafts what am I supposed to do about all the bills that come out of my account next week? this is all fine and dandy while State Farm issues us a check for all this. How am I supposed to buy gas for my car? I guess it's a good thing we didn't come to work yesterday, it saved us some gas money.....

This is going to end up costing the insurance Company A LOT of money.

AHAHHHHHHHAHAHAHHAHAHA HA HA HA!!!!
(frustrated laugh)

Now everyone, it's swearing time with Liz please join in the fun:

@&*(@#$&83&*%#(&@%! @)#*@*($(#$&(@!)@!  (&@$UERFI#) &*#(@(*@!#!@$#!!! EI@($*(*!@$*(@#EIR(#$*JRI!!

Roar!

2006 Ford Focus, Anyone?

Well, Happy Birthday to Me!
(maybe)

We got a call from Jack Harris Auto Body yesterday. The car is almost done. They had it all ready to go to paint when they got inside to test everything out and SURPRISE! the passenger side seatbelt was broken. I could have told them that 51 days ago. They had to order that part.

SO  ...

They say I might have my car back by the end of the week. This week? I asked John, and he said yes.
We'll see. I wont hold my breath, but that would be a very nice birthday present.

I Made It!

After my snow day yesterday I made it to work this morning.

I must say, I was very disappointed that there was NO NEW SNOW in Salt Lake from yesterday.
Here I was digging out of at least a foot of snow (if not more) and there isn't even a skiff of new snow at my work.
I heard on the news that Ogden got 21 inches of new snow yesterday! I'm sure that we have at least 12-18 inches of new snow at my house. John spent most of the day shoveling. I know he's not supposed to shovel, but there is only one snow shovel and he gets to it first. Apparently I don't do a good enough job. :)
So all in all we spent yesterday shut in at home which gave us time to take down the Christmas tree and play lots of Lego Star Wars. I even go a nap somewhere in the midst of that. Then we had orange chicken for dinner with a pasta side, I fed my Zombie and my Werewolf, played scrabble with my sister, cleaned the litter box, then went to the store and bought some milk and when all that was over with I went to bed. So even though I was stuck at home most of the day I did get some things accomplished.

Orange Chicken Marinade

1/2 cup Orange Juice Concentrate (thawed)
1/4 cup Oil
1/4 cup Lemon Juice
2 TBL Grated Orange Peal
1 clove minced Garlic (or 1/2 tsp garlic powder)
1/2 tsp Salt

Mix everything together in a large zip-lock bag, add chicken and refrigerate.

Marinade chicken for at least 2 hours then cook in a 350 degree oven for about 30 minutes or until chicken is cooked through.

Very yummy. Great for the grill.

Noranti watching it snow.

Outside @ 10 am... Yep, still snowing. We never made it to work this morning. We didn't want to die on the way.

John shoveling snow (he's not supposed to do that) there was 6-8 inches @ 5 am.

My yard @ 5 am today. You can't tell but it was snowing like crazy.

Horoscope for Jan 08, 2008

Today's Capricorn:

Put your wisdom into action, dear Capricorn. There is no good in accumulating all this knowledge and then just letting it sit there collecting dust like an old book on a shelf. Put your thoughts into motion, and watch as magical things begin to manifest right before your eyes. You have incredible opportunities today that can only come when you are expressing yourself in your truest form. Wear something outlandish to remind yourself and others about what an individual you really are.

It's a Party

Thoughts

Take long walks in stormy weather or through deep snows in the fields and woods, if you would keep your spirits up. Deal with brute nature. Be cold and hungry and weary.

An Old Favorite

Last night was the premier of American Gladiators it is on NBC. This is the reincarnation of one of my favorite shows from when I was a kid. I fondly remember sitting around the tele on Saturday mornings watching this great show. It inspired so many children of my generation to aspire to be Gladiators (as I saw last night).

The show thankfully is exactly as I remember it it includes the same old trials against the gladiators: The Joust. The Gauntlet. The Rings. The Pyramid. The Assault. The Wall. And last but not least The Eliminator! And to add some new variety to the show there are new events too... One new event is Earthquake, which is wrestling on a suspended platform and if you stay on for the full time you get 5 points but if you knock the gladiator off you get 10. I don't remember the name of the other new event from last night, but it is a bridge that the contender has to run across while having 100 lb balls swung at them and each trip across the bridge is 2 points.

Did I mention that this show is awesome... or maybe I'm just severely lacking good entertainment in my life. I'll probably be watching this on Monday nights at 8 from now on - - but wait, that presents a problem... Monday nights at 8 on NBC should be Heroes!? When will that be moved to?

Meow
Wow, an actual post instead of just a picture. Hi everyone. I hope your New Year was great. I have been having a talk with my better half about our car. I think 2 months to get my car fixed is normal. That includes three holiday. It was in the car accident back just before Thanksgiving. The repairs include all the body work, painting, so on.
My wife says No it isn't. I just thought everyone could sound off on this. I know it will be awhile before i really get any responses. See as I never really post. Thanks.

It is a proven fact

2007 was the year of no parties.
I did not host a single party at my house for the whole year, and guess what we learned. . .

There must be a party at John & Liz's or the world falls apart.

For most holidays in 2007 we made other plans or just skipped them completely and I didn't mind it one bit, but then we start getting the phone calls: "What are you guys doing for (insert holiday here)?" It is inevitable.

Like on New Years we had other plans to spend it away from home with someone else. As soon as we had made those plans suddenly we had people coming out of the woodwork to spend New Years with us... two little sisters called, my brother's girl friend emailed, our "married friends" called... etc. Each one wanted to know what we were doing for New Years Eve. Now, had we had the party at our house this wouldn't have been a problem because we usually just say "come on over to our house we're (insert activity here) and you're more then welcome to join us."

so it has come down to this. No matter what my complaints are I need to have the parties at my house that way we can cater to everyone (including me) and if you don't come it's not my problem because at least you were invited.

So - FYI - The following are parties I will be having at my house in 2008:

Liz's Birthday - Saturday 1/12/2008 . . . but on the other hand this may be at Holly's house - depends - I'll keep you posted
John's Birthday - Saturday 2/02/2008 bring a present
Canadian Thanksgiving - Saturday 10/11/2008 (I'll have my party the Saturday before because thanksgiving on a Monday is a joke)
Halloween - Friday 10/31/2008 - come in costume!
Christmas - Saturday 12/20/2008 - it's a white elephant party so bring a gift
New Years Eve - Wednesday 12/31/2008

So there you go. Other parties will be planned as the year moves on.

Stuff that makes ME smile

On my sister's blog she has a section that looks like this:

Stuff That Makes Me Smile

Fozzie Bear ~ Funny Blogs ~ Crazy Kittens

which makes me laugh because I relate to all three of her statements. namely:

Fozzie Bear - I love Fozzie. I think I have always loved Fozzie with his natty brown fur that makes him look like a teddy bear that has gotten just the right amount of love and he unforgettable "waka waka waka!" that follows each of his jokes. John & I got Season One of the Muppet Show for Christmas this year and have spend the last several nights watching episodes. We're up to the second disk and episode 12. Sure, we have no idea who most of the special guests are because even they were before our time, but we watch it for the Muppets. It's funny to watch how the characters developed over the first part of Season One. Fozzie however has stayed the same, He is a constant. I miss Fozzie Bear some times.

Funny Blogs - This is something I do enjoy. More over, I like having the funny blog. I have recently learned that my blog has many fans. Friends, and friends of friends as well as family find it necessary to check my blog at least once a day if not more. It makes me feel like I really must post daily just to keep everyone entertained. I don't mind though because I enjoy doing it.

Crazy Kittens - I have 2 of these. I believe that all kittens are crazy, it's just a matter of who's around to watch them. I just got new curtains for my living room to replace the see through ones that were there before and you would have thought I had destroyed the cats whole world... They just sat there - either on the floor or on the love seat - staring at the windows with angry looks on their faces. OH NO! they can't see outside with out a little effort! it truly is the end of the world.

:)

hmmm...

Can anyone tell that I am VERY bored today . . .
it's not that I don't have work to do I'm just lacking a great desire to do it.
So sending emails to my blog at least makes me look busy without making me look like I'm playing on my blog.  :) Being able to email posts has been a great invention.
he he he

I've got a case of the fridays. It's almost worse then the mondays.

Mike Huckabee & Chuck

The real reason why Mike Huckabee won Iowa ....
because if you don't vote for Huckabee Chuck Norris will roundhouse kick you until you do.

and yes, I did come up with this one myself
